[Fries Vansevenant](https://www.instagram.com/fries_vansevenant/) has a distinct geometric collage style that is lots of fun to look at. As a 90s kid, my first choice of images to use had to be Kurt Cobain, although there are plenty of other cool pop-culture identities to check out.

## art stuff
![[cartoonModern.png|cartoon man and secretary in a mid-century modern office illustration]]
[Cartoon Modern](https://archive.org/details/cartoon-modern-uncompressed/mode/2up) on the Internet Archive is a full book on 1950s animation. Tons of great mid-century modern illustration on display. Well worth downloading as a reference for any illustrators and cartoonists.
[Walks](https://youtu.be/vihIPBrP6y0) is a 45 minute deep-dive demo on walk cycles that should be required viewing for all animators.
[Jake Don’t Draw](https://www.youtube.com/@JakeDontDraw/featured) is a YouTube channel filled with tons of great traditional painting demos and tutorials.
[The Book of Zines](https://www.zinebook.com/index.html) is an archive, history, and other elements of self-publishing. Can easily get lost in here. I found some really random mimeographed stuff from the 60s and 70s.
## web design stuff
[Stuff Everybody Knows](https://stuffeverybodyknows.com) is a solid outline foundation of web design. Mostly theory about how all the things work together.
Robb Knight has a solid [collection of web tools](https://rknight.me/intersect/web/toolkit/) for things like fonts, color, and other web stuff.
## indie web stuff
[Linklings.Club](https://linklings.club) for finding indie websites by interests and categories. _I should see if they will add my site to the list._
[IndieWeb Carnival](https://indieweb.org/IndieWeb_Carnival#List_Of_Past_IndieWeb_Carnivals_&_Hosts) is a monthly themed collection of blog posts related to a topic. The host and topic changes each month. _I should start participating._
## web art stuff
[Graphite](https://editor.graphite.art) is a free browser-based vector illustration tool. Not quite Adobe Illustrator but pretty powerful. Reminds me of [Photopea](https://www.photopea.com) as an alternative to Adobe Photoshop.
![[newgrounds.png|old computer setup with a video playing on the monitor]]
[NewGrounds Roulette](https://www.newgroundsroulette.com) is a nostalgic site filled with random Flash videos from back in the early 2000s, all presented on a stylish CRT monitor and a Dell desktop tower.
## other creativity stuff
[Letters To A Young Creator](https://letters.stevejobsarchive.com) is a series of inspirational messages from established artists and designers. It was originally a printed series but now it is a website that is part of the [Steve Jobs Archive](https://stevejobsarchive.com/).
![[bellingham.png|painting of person seated and reading a book with a landscape where their face should be]]
