# week 1 of 2026 **december 29 - january 4** ![[Feet.webp]] Absolutely love the [Minimalist Photography Awards](https://minimalistphotographyawards.com/open-theme-winners-2025/). This one called _Feet_ is by Luca Menotti. Normally minimalist photos tend to be peaceful and serene but also kind of empty. This one feels irreverent and silly (while also being peaceful and serene). --- Starting out the new year with reviews of the last year. I tend to ignore those sorts of posts, however I do like this list of [the best movie posters of 2025](https://www.creativereview.co.uk/movie-posters-of-the-year-2025/). Sadly, I haven't actually seen any of these movies. My year was spent with classes, reading, and playing video games. Cyberpunk 2077 and Death Stranding were my visual inputs this past year. >  The magic happens when you see your ideas sooner, messier, more honestly. Because creativity isn't about having perfect ideas, it's about having the confidence to [[iteration|iterate]] on imperfect ones. > >  — [Reid Schlegel](https://www.yankodesign.com/2025/12/07/the-most-underrated-design-skill-in-2025-how-to-see-your-ideas-faster/) ## new year stuff [Printable calendar on one page](https://neatnik.net/calendar/) from [Neatnik](https://neatnik.net/), the folks responsible for [omg.lol](https://home.omg.lol/). Uses Javascript to scale the calendar to whatever print size you are using. [Markdown yearly calendar](https://ellanew.com/2025/12/30/markdown-calendars-2026) from [Ellane](https://ellanew.com/) is a set of simple markdown tables to build calendars. ## font stuff ![[nationalPark.png]] [National Park Typeface](https://nationalparktypeface.com) site comes with both the downloadable font and a wonderful history of the project. I love these sorts of community design endeavors. ## web stuff [HTML Hobbyist](https://www.htmlhobbyist.com) has a great history of the web with foundation lessons in getting a functional website up and running. Adding this to my web design class resources. ## games I'm a huge fan of Tetris. Turns out there are several well-built versions you can play online. Including the [official version](https://play.tetris.com), [Tetris on Windows 3.1](https://archive.org/details/TETRIS_201612) from the Internet Archive, or old Mac version on [InfiniteMac](https://infinitemac.org/1991/System%207.0) (among other old games). I love InfiniteMac to use old software like Photoshop, PageMaker, etc. Fun trip down memory lane. > [!card-left] > > ![[boing.png]] > > [Boing](https://boing.greg.technology) by [GReg TeChnoLogY](https://greg.technology/) lets you boing a little springy thing with satisfying sound and wiggle action. Meditative brain reset. > [!card-right] > > [The Uncolouring Book](https://lines.potato.horse/) by [Rafał Pastuszak](https://sonnet.io/) is an interactive drawing app with a sense of humor. You can download your finished designs whenever you want. > > ![[banana.png]]
