# week 48 of 2025
**November 24-30**

I've always been a huge fan of MC Escher's work. Interesting visuals, strong graphic design, often with cool optical illusions. Even more amazing is that most of his work is actually carved block prints. Amazing! [Digital Commonwealth has high-resolution MC Escher prints](https://www.digitalcommonwealth.org/search?f%5Bcollection_name_ssim%5D%5B%5D=M.+C.+Escher+%281898-1972%29.+Prints+and+Drawings&f%5Binstitution_name_ssim%5D%5B%5D=Boston+Public+Library) for free download.

Haven't posted here in forever. Life suddenly got extremely busy with school and life adventures. I'm back now. Thanksgiving break is winding down and I'm working on resetting before heading back to the classroom tomorrow. Time to finally post an update of the neat things I've collected.
The list feels short to me. I'm sure there's a lot of other cool things I've found but didn't take the time to save. There are many more items clipped into my unsorted vault that are probably worth sharing but I'm kind of scared to look. There are currently 187 items to be sorted. Not ready for that just yet. Soon, though, I hope.

### art stuff
Similar to MC Escher above, [Cinta Vidal creates art that plays with neat perspective games](https://www.thisiscolossal.com/2025/11/cinta-vidal-inward-thinkspace-projects-perspective-paintings/). Look at those cozy colors and textures and how it all seems to make complete sense.

Thomas Moes is currently creating [a web page a week on interesting obsessions](https://www.thomasmoes.com/about-obsessions). I loved the recent page on the [Space Age](https://www.thomasmoes.com/52obsessions/its-time-for-our-own-space-age) with information about the culture, design, architecture, fashion style of the Atomic Age and how we need a new story for our modern times. It also taught me about the beautiful silliness of [googie architecture](https://architizer.com/blog/practice/details/googie-101/).

The National Gallery of Art has a collection of over 18,000 pieces creating an [Index of American Design](https://www.nga.gov/artworks/index-american-design). It is a celebration of art documenting folk and decorative objects from the late 1800s and into the mid 1900s.

### web tools
[Vert](https://vert.sh) is an open source file converter that works locally in the browser. Can convert images, audio, videos, and documents. I've used it several times since discovery and it works pretty well.
[ImageConverter.dev](https://imageconverter.dev) similarly works in the browser to convert image file like png, jpg, heic, gif, etc.
[ColorPallete.Pro](https://colorpalette.pro/?color=oklch%2861%25+0.257+228%29&paletteType=com&paletteStyle=square&colorFormat=oklch&effects=0%2C0%2C0%2C0) is yet another tool to create color schemes. This one comes packaged in a nifty interface filled with retro buttons and knobs. Seems like a pretty darn powerful tool beyond the interesting interface.
