## visual reference stuff
[Oldschool Rave Flyer](https://www.flickr.com/photos/villalobosjayse/collections/72157626196424298/) archive collection on Flickr. I made a few of these sorts of things back in the 90s. Feels like a nostalgic walk down memory lane (with a sick beat playing in the background). I probably went to some of these shows back then.
[Movie Posters Collection](https://hrc.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/p15878coll84/search) from the [Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas](https://hrc.contentdm.oclc.org). They have a lot of other cool visual collections. This collection primarily contains posters from the 1950s and 1960s.
[Website Design Inspiration](https://webdesigninspiration.io) is exactly what it sounds like. Just one guy collecting what he thinks is good. Some nice choices in the list. Not a ton of sites but still worth exploring.
## conceptual references stuff
[The Basics Guide](https://thebasics.guide/index/) is a collection of more than 200 concepts and ideas that people should understand as foundation to all other knowledge.
## creative experiments
[The Monolith Project](https://themonolithproject.net) is a neat interactive history space evolution thing reminiscent of old [Moebius](https://www.moebius.fr) artwork from the 80s.
[The FlipBook of the Rings](https://lotr.andymation.com) is an ambitious project to create a three-hour long frame by frame flipbook of the Lord of the Rings. You can actually sign up to animate a snippet yourself. The teaser video alone is worth watching.
[52 Weeks of Obsession](https://www.thomasmoes.com/about-obsessions)is a project where [a guy](https://www.thomasmoes.com/) is creating a mini-website about a random obsession every week or two. Currently somewhere in the teens so plenty more to be still to be done. Worth following to see what happens next week. [Number 14](https://www.thomasmoes.com/52obsessions/annual-posters) has a great history of poster design. Lots of other visual content already.
