# dealing with uncertainty
Creative production is about bringing something new into the world, something that has never existed before. There are plenty of unknowns in the process and that can be scary. It is hard to find the path when you are the one creating the path as you go along.

### notes
ideas to explore deeper:
- migrate notes from thesis
- uncertainty in the workflow. not knowing next steps
- fears of failure, perfectionism
- how to deal with uncertainty
- know things are probably going to suck for awhile so give up on perfectionism from the start
- get to work making things to get them out of your head and [[get it on the page]]
- [[play with ideas]] to try things out and discover solutions while doing the work
- find your own idea of what counts for a quality successful solution and aim for that
- use [[iteration]] to refine towards quality
- [[find a guide]]
- celebrate the small victories, no matter how minor. this stuff is hard, so be easy on yourself.
- [[just start]]
> If you feel safe in the area that you’re working in, you’re not working in the right area. Always go a little further into the water than you feel you’re capable of being in. Go a little bit out of your depth, and when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about in the right place to do something exciting.
