# art journal for 2021.01.14
As part of this ongoing project to document and organize my notes and ideas, I've decided to add my doodles and visual explorations. This is part of [[learning in public]]. Also posting work to my [Instagram account](https://www.instagram.com/mister.chad.rules/).
I'm having fun playing around with art stuff these days. No real push to make anything in particular, just having fun learning and fiddling around and trying things out. Eventually I'm sure I'll have real projects that I want to do with the tools. For now, I'm happy exploring for the sake of exploring.
I have been making things in [Affinity Designer](https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/designer/) lately, especially with the [iPad app](https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/designer/ipad/). Here are some things I've made today. The first two were inspired by a library book my daughter brought home...

Playing with vector/raster combination and brush tools in #affinitydesigner. The shapes aren't that great, but I do like the clouds and blurred background in the distance. Fun leaf texture and massing in the tree.

Again, playing with vector/raster combination as well as stroke thicknesses in #affinitydesigner. Loving the colors and her attitude.

This was a coloring book page found online. As always lately, I'm playing with vector masses and raster painting textures on top. #affinitydesigner is good for painting within masked vector areas. Not sure what I like about this, but was a fun way to jump into making marks again. Got bored with the clouds so didn't finish. Oh well.
