# aligning objects Get your objects to line up. Open the Align panel by using the pull-down menus for **Window > Align**. ![[Pasted image 20221013153633.png]] --- ### move objects to different layers Align works by lining up different layers, not objects in the same layer. If your objects are in the same layer, you will need to move those objects to different layers. The process is not obvious, unfortunately. You can’t just drag an object in the Timeline to a different layer. 1. Select the object to be move and then Cut it by either using Ctrl-X or Edit > Cut. 2.
