# substance stager align, distribute, and snap Substance Stager has several ways to control how objects are placed or moved in relation to each other. ## world and object space By default, your objects are placed in **World Space** where the ground plane is horizontal. The Move, Rotate, Scale tools all work with the cardinal X, Y, Z directions. This is normally a great way to work. ![[worldSpace.png]] You can also change to the X, Y, Z of an individual object or group. A great example is working with a rotated object. You can toggle to the Object Space of the individual object to make your transformations. ![[objectSpace.png]] To toggle between World Space and Object Space, use the **T** on the keyboard or press the **World/Object Toggle icon** in the upper-left of the interface. ![[toggle.png]] --- ## align, distribute, move Substance Stager has a set of built-in tools to help line up and equally move multiple objects at the same time. Select multiple objects and press the **D** key or press the **Align and Distribute Tool icon**. ![[alignTool.png]] In your workspace, you will see several colored bars and handles appear around your selected objects. ![[alignBars.png]] The bars show the positioning extents of your selected objects. There are little handles for endpoints and midpoints of your layout. ### align **Single-Click** on a handle and the objects will all instantly move to align along that edge or center-point. ### distribute **Single-Click** on the long colored bar and all the objects will move to be equally spaced between the end-points. ### dynamically move **Grab** and drag a handle to change the placement range of the objects. You will see that all the objects will move position as needed to maintain the position relationship. --- ## snapping Snapping helps position objects during transforms by automatically aligning with existing geometry. ![[snapExample.png]] Cyan visual cues are shown when objects are aligned with end-points or center-points of other objects. Toggle Snapping by pressing the letter **X** key or by pressing the **Snapping icon** in the upper-left of the interface. Notice the drop-down menu where you can adjust what attributes the snapping system looks for while working. ![[snap.png]] --- Learn more… - [Arrange Objects from Adobe Help](https://helpx.adobe.com/substance-3d-stager/using/arrange-objects.html) - [Snapping System from Adobe Help](https://helpx.adobe.com/substance-3d-stager/features/snapping-system.html) --- tags: #3d #resources #substance #stager home: [[! 3d modeling - substance]]
