# saved camera views in maya Maya has a default set of cameras to view your 3D work. By default you have a perspective camera view called **persp** for moving around and looking at your elements in full 3D space. This is great for working on developing your model. You can define saved camera views for looking at your model which is good for rendering or just being able to see how your model changes as you work on it. Here’s how you do this. ![[Pasted image 20220829104904.png]] Set up your chosen view while in the **persp** panel ### Create a new camera view In the panel pull-downs, go to **View > Create Camera From View** ### Lock/unlock the camera view In the panel pull-downs, go to **View > Lock Camera** to toggle locked/unlocked ### Set the panel to display the rendered dimensions By default, the size of the view in the panel doesn’t show you the actual rendered dimensions so what you see in the panel doesn’t actually match what the rendering looks like. In the panel pull-downs, go to **View > Camera Settings > Resolution Gate** and the panel will adjust to fit the rendered dimensions. To adjust the rendering dimensions: on the menu bar go to the **Render Settings** icon (looks like a clapboard with a teal gear) or change the Menu Set to Rendering and then use the top pulldowns for **Render > Render Settings**. Under the **Common** tab, scroll down to **Image Size** and put in your desired output sizes. ![[Pasted image 20220829110508.png]] ### To switch between cameras There are two easy options to switch cameras. 1. In the panel menu, right-click on the **Camera** icon and choose the camera you want to look through ![[Pasted image 20220829105651.png]] 1.
