# align and snap in maya Get your objects to line up and snap together. This is a big deal. ## alignment tools The main tools are found in the pull-down menu for **Modify > Align** section. Snap Together Tool - pick two points on different objects and snap them together to quickly place objects. Messy and quick and not all accurate. Point-To-Point - switch to Vertex mode and choose vertex on different objects to put them together. More accurate. Can use Two-Point or Three-Point for even more accuracy on curved surfaces. Align Tool - gives a bounding box around selected objects with little icons to quickly align in different ways. Little wonky to get used to but does work pretty well. ## the easier and better way A few quick hotkeys that will make your life better: **D** - hold down D and choose a face, line, or vertex to change location of pivot point/center of gizmo. This will help when trying to set snap to an object. **V** - with object selected hold V and grab the center of the gizmo and drag to whatever face, line, or vertex you want to snap to Learn More: - [Hidden Maya Features: Align Tools with FlippedNormals on YouTube](https://youtu.be/erwUJu6phyc) --- tags: #3d #maya #resources home: [[! 3d modeling- maya]]
